Africa Bridge Fund is proud to be one of the sponsors the EV Explorers team in this year’s
Rhino Charge, kicking off on 31 May 2025. For the first time, a fully electric vehicle will
participate, making history as the EV Explorers tackle one of the world’s toughest off-road
challenges. Their efforts support the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust.
At the launch event on 29 April, EV Explorers team leader Richard Kiplagat stated, “EV
Explorers is about more than just racing - it’s about innovation, conservation, and the future of
mobility in Africa.”
Frank McCosker, Africa Bridge Managing Partner, added, “We are excited to support the EV
Explorers team at the Rhino Charge as it aligns with so many of our core values at Africa
Bridge: innovation, environmental sustainability on the continent, conservation, and having a bit
of fun!”
This electric entry is a first in the Rhino Charge’s 35-year history. Organizers and participants
believe the inclusion of an EV highlights a growing interest in climate-smart technologies across
sectors. The Rhino Charge is an annual off-road motorsport event that raises funds for
conservation. Since its inception, the event has raised over $18.56 million (KES 2.4 billion),
contributing to the construction of 780 kilometers of electric fencing that protects more than
80,000 families from human-wildlife conflict.
